Hey, I'm Lucas. Skater, creator, and entrepreneur...
Three years ago, my life was pretty routine—school, skating, study repeat. I could’ve stayed the same, blending in with everyone else.
But when I was 12, everything changed when I decided to buy some black nail polish.
That small choice sparked a burning question: did this have to be so hard, could I make it better?
That’s when I started…cause I refused to let the world dictate who I should be, by an industry that was stuck in the past.
I wanted to create something awesome that would make everyone feel seen, powerful and unapologetically express themselves.
So, I did it. I didn’t just transform my nails, I shook things up. It’s such a buzz creating stuff that different. Today I’m in year 10 and a full time entrepreneur and student at TSS, I skate every day to test new colours and formulations. I figure, with a bit more polish, the future’s going to be Glossy:))
I wanted to try something new, only to find the nail polish shopping experience uncomfortable, confusing, and anything but welcoming.
And to top it off, I'd put in the effort to paint my nails with normal black polish and when I hit the skate ramp, my creation was wrecked in minutes! Frustration led to a chat with my amazing Mum, and dude, I had to make it happen…the chunky pen came to life and suddenly 1-step gel polish was the future.
‘Cause it had to be accessible, and simple: ‘cause whoa, a base coat, colour and top coat was way too hard, it had to be super-durable plus I didn’t want to wait around for hours for it to dry
I started by looking at who the customer truly was – me, right then. I started to figure how I could make it real. Not just for myself, but for countless others who felt the same frustration. And Glossy Boys was born 🤘🏼
I've taken the stage at TEDx to share the impact of rad self-expression.
At TEDx they share ideas. Mine was simple: a community of rad self-expression where guys and gals of any kind and creed feel seen and welcome. I'm super proud of ‘The Glossy Brigade.’ the rad people like you, reading right now, a part of a community who are a little rebellious, a little edgy and aren't afraid of change. Inspired by the fierce and legendary 80’s skate crew ‘The Bones Brigade' the Glossy Brigade is a feeling of freedom full of colour. It's you, a rockstar that believes in truely being yourself, and that supporting others to be themselves absolutely rocks 🤘🏼
Getting into a Tank of Sharks is easy...right?
160 cameras, 5 multi-millonaires and one shot to pitch... at 13 years old.
I was focused on 1 thing: all I wanted was to share the feeling of not belonging, and then what it's like when you create something that makes others feel seen.
I'm the youngest Shark Tank Australia dealmaker ever, and with angel investments from 3 Sharks: Davie Fogarty of Oodie, Jane Lu of Showpo and Dr Catriona Wallace of Responsible AI, Glossy Boys was valued at $250,000 after only 9 months of trading.
Today, I'm 15, Glossy Boys has sold over 20,000 gel polish pens and we are in 4 markets worldwide: USA, New Zealand, Canada and right across my home country of beaches, bush and sunshine in Australia, Sharks and all….
Imagine a world where self-expression isn't limited by norms...
...Where your style speaks louder than any words ever could. That's the world I'm inviting you to join me in creating. You’ll find you get compliments, and people will find you just a little more interesting.
So join me on this totally rad ride, as we paint the world in colours that refuse to conform.
Know that I see you and appreciate you. Let's redefine what it means to stand out – and remember, to be rad always, LUCAS:)) Founder, Glossy Boys.
